Hi there!

I'm so glad you stopped by. This is Founder of Pink Belt Project Kristy Hitchens. I'm a Taekwondo Black Belt Mum in Western Australia. So maybe you're wondering how this whole thing came about? Sometimes, me too! Lol. I do occasionally stop and wonder how I got here.

Before I go on in the spirit of reconciliation, Pink Belt Project acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We operate from Wardandi Country of the Noongar Nation.

So back to how this all started? It was just a little seed of an idea to help a friend impacted by domestic violence while (at the same time) embarking on a journey of starting martial arts age 40.

Now I am gathering an army of martial arts clubs from across Australia (and occasionally overseas too) all committed to helping women healing from the trauma of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault by connecting them with the power they have inside.

You can read more about the Pink Belt Project story in this article by news platform Women’s Agenda.

Keep Kicking. Kristy x

Say ‘NO’ to violence!

Research shows training in the Traditional Martial Arts is not only an effective therapeutic tool for recovery from violence, it is also a powerful weapon in violence prevention. We remove financial barriers to accessing the training for women in need by providing them with a one year Pink Belt Scholarship at their nearest local martial arts club. You can donate to empower a woman in need HERE or contact us to discuss Sponsorship opportunities. You can also read about how we define ’empowerment’ HERE.
