PINK BELT PROJECT INC.
Australian Registered Charity empowering women on a recovery journey by connecting them with martial arts for healing, health, wellbeing and growth.
Hi there!
I'm so glad you stopped by. This is Founder of Pink Belt Project Kristy Hitchens. I'm a Taekwondo Black Belt Mum in Western Australia. So maybe you're wondering how this whole thing came about? Sometimes, me too! Lol. I do occasionally stop and wonder how I got here.
Before I go on in the spirit of reconciliation, Pink Belt Project acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We operate from Wardandi Country of the Noongar Nation.
So back to how this all started? It was just a little seed of an idea to help a friend impacted by domestic violence while (at the same time) embarking on a journey of starting martial arts age 40.
Now I am gathering an army of martial arts clubs from across Australia (and occasionally overseas too) all committed to helping women healing from the trauma of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault by connecting them with the power they have inside.
You can read more about the Pink Belt Project story in this article by news platform Women’s Agenda.
Please stay a while and browse through all the information here on the site. Whether you are a #survivor wondering how martial arts could help, an instructor interested in becoming involved, a volunteer willing to lend a hand or a sponsor looking for a project that aligns with your own personal values.
There is something for everyone. Whatever you find, I hope you leave here better than when you arrived and that I might hear from you one day soon.
Keep Kicking. Kristy x
